Why I process your personal data

I collect, retain and use your personal data to prepare a quote, to provide the translation, proofreading, audit, copywriting or editing services you’ve requested, or to comply with legal and tax requirements. I don’t use your personal data for marketing purposes. I also don’t supply your personal data to third parties. The personal data I collect can include your name, postal address, email address, telephone number and VAT number. The legal basis for processing your data is to provide the services you’ve requested or to take the necessary steps to comply with your requests.

Who else can access your personal data?

In case another person has to work on your copy, for example if you requested additional proofreading, everything will be anonymised, so your personal data will not be visible. Other parties can access your personal data for administrative purposes, including my accountant and the hosting company for my website and email services.

All these parties comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.

For how long is your personal data retained?

I retain data relating to offers for one year. Once your order has been completed and invoiced, I have to retain your personal data for six (6) years for tax purposes.

Security of your personal data

I’ve implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to secure your personal data. I’ve chosen these measures based on the available technology, the implementation costs, the type of personal data I process for you and the associated risks. I aim for these measures to comply with the requirements of GDPR (Article 32).

Data breaches

If I discover a data breach, I will report it to you within 48 hours, and I will notify the Irish Data Protection Commission within 72 hours.
